KAMIYA, who started her career as a solo artist in 2022, is now releasing her first EP “GOODNIGHT BABY”. The EP showcases a vibrant international influence, featuring collaborations with artists from Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Taiwan, and South Korea.
The title track, “GOODNIGHT BABY,” captures KAMIYA's desire to escape the frustrations of daily life while also offering a sense of hope for a brighter future. The song, a collaboration with MIST, depicts the struggles of an ordinary girl facing misunderstanding and judgment. It conveys her feelings of disappointment, unfulfilled love, and self-doubt, painting a poignant picture of her inner world.
Two songs were pre-released on August 21: “NINJA feat. Oak Soe Khant,” where KAMIYA takes on the role of a ninja on a mission to rescue his loved ones from a castle, and “100% NAIL ( Remix feat. ChaCha),” which explores themes of self-love and self-respect through expressions of nails and makeup. The EP also includes “OTOME JETCOASTER” featuring Liu Grace, a song that likens the emotional roller coaster of a young girl's life to the ups and downs of a roller coaster, and “HIMITSUKICHI” featuring INHON, characterized by lyrics that express deep affection and the feeling of not being able to live without a loved one.
KAMIYA collaborated with moemagmag (@moe_magmag) to design the cover art for this EP. Given the international nature of this project, involving collaborations with five Asian artists, the artwork features the “two-dimensional girl,” a significant element of Japanese pop culture. This concept was created to resonate with a global audience. The result is “Kawagal-chan,” KAMIYA's vision of a cute, two-dimensional gal. moemagmag also crafted the cover art for her previous release, “GALFY4 ft. cyber milk chan, nyamura, 嚩ᴴᴬᴷᵁ, MANON (prod. Masayoshi Iimori),” capturing KAMIYA's unique and consistent artistic vision.
