The Japanese music scene has been buzzing with unique SSW artists for the past few years.

Sagiri Sól has attracted attention within the industry for his one-of-a-kind voice and melodic sense in the Japanese SSW scene, which has been booming with the rise of numerous young artists. Despite the fact that he has only been active since 2022, his collaborations with VivaOla and Wez Atlas, as well as guest appearances by The Congratulations, YOSA & TAAR, ZEN-LA-ROCK, and other artists that transcend genres and generations, have proven the appeal of his music. This is my first EP, “heat shock”, and as the title suggests, I hope it will give everyone a “shock” in a good way and let them feel a new side of me.
For this EP, I have worked with a different producer for each song. Some of them I have worked with many times in the past, while others were working with me for the first time, and we were able to record five songs that vividly express their individual personalities.
The theme of the EP was “music you will want to listen to in various phases of your life. Music can be a textbook, a medicine, or even yourself. I also believe that it is something that traces the path someone has lived. On days of joy, days of sorrow, days of anger, days when nothingness strikes... music has always been there for me. I hope this EP will be like an insert song in everyone's life.

I have been working with Sam is Ohm, the producer of this song, since “Hearth” featuring YonYon. When we started working on the EP, he said, “Let's write a song together!
I wanted to depict “passion for what I love” if I was going to make a song with Ohm-san, with whom I usually talk about many things, and the production began. The song is about the sensation of moving forward in life with passion and excitement, and the intense shock and passion of being hit by a heat shock.

You meet someone and fall in love with them. A single word or casual action of the other person can affirm you or change the person you have become. In this way, the lyrics express the mystery of falling in love with someone and the great power and salvation that deep “feelings” for the other person have brought to your life. Ruby also has the meaning of “passion,” “ardor,” “pure love,” “courage,” and “freedom,” and I also incorporated the feeling of “I love your eyes that give me all those things” in the lyrics and title.
This is the second album I have produced with Shin Sakiura, following the previous album “alphabets,” and I believe that the combination of his unique pop tracks with a sense of speed that makes your body move unintentionally has resulted in a very colorful and warm work. Shin Sakiura is a producer and guitarist based in Tokyo. After playing in a band, he started producing original music under his own name in 2015. When I wrote this song, I felt that TAAR would definitely give shape to what I wanted to do! TAAR is a Tokyo-based DJ/producer who released a limited edition album “abstrkt” in 2012, which sold out immediately and became a hot topic. After releasing 3 digital EPs including “eyes of you” featuring ShigeoJD (ex-SBK, steady&co / now Fake Eyes Production), he was selected as a resident DJ for MODERN DISCO (at SOUND MUSEUM VISION in Shibuya) which started in February 2015. Resident with fellow DJ/producer YOSA, the party was born in response to the new generation of house music that has been derived from France and around the world, and has been attended by up-and-coming producers of the new generation such as Darius, Moon Boots, Bondax, and FKJ, as well as DJs In February 2017, the new album “Astro” was released with a theme of “weightless drifting” and a story connected through the whole album. When I saw myself and other people waiting for the train, I thought that we are always busy catching trains, so I decided to use the term “Train Catcher” as my theme.
We wanted to keep the simple, relaxed demo feel of just guitar and song, so we asked Oi, who also plays guitar on the EP tracks “heat shock” and “ghost,” to join us in the production process.
On any given day, we would get on the train and head to our respective destinations. Some days are good, some days are bad, but we eat what we like, do what we like, meet people we like, and face another tomorrow. It's not a busy day, but we will do it all again tomorrow. This song is filled with such thoughts.
