Next-Gen Indie Pop/R&B Standout Sagiri Sól Releases 2nd EP "lapis lazuli," Featuring an All-Star Cast of 8 Artists, via bpm tokyo! — Complete with a Personal Track-by-Track Breakdown

Japan
Riding a wave of acclaim after her track "ruby" was featured as the ending theme for the hit TV show Secret Kenmin SHOW Extreme and being tapped for music outlet Spincoaster's influential SPOTLIGHT 2025 list, celebrated singer-songwriter Sagiri Sól has released her new EP, lapis lazuli, approximately eight months after her December debut.

lapis lazuli is an ambitious project featuring a total of eight guest artists across five tracks, including the previously released singles "lover boy feat. Ryohu" and "eeny meeny." Newly recorded for the EP are three tracks: the titular "lapis lazuli feat. luvis"; "jack in the box feat. Wez Atlas," featuring production and guitar from Kumai Goro and Yoshito Tanaka; and "on the breeze," produced by the legendary 80KIDZ.

◼︎ A Message and Track-by-Track Introduction from Sagiri Sól!

"My second EP since December, lapis lazuli, is a project that I feel focuses more on my own feelings and life than ever before. There are songs that will make you want to set off on a distant journey, and others that will make you want to dance alone in your room with headphones on. The title, Lapis Lazuli, is a beautiful, deep blue natural stone, long cherished as a ‘guardian stone for travelers’ and a ‘stone that brings good fortune.’ Just as the lyrics in 'lapis lazuli feat. luvis' say, 'How your world spins today is up to you!' Every challenge and every conflict is part of your own epic journey, where you are the protagonist. I hope that each and every song can become a companion for your magnificent and wonderful journey!"

01. lapis lazuli feat. luvis
Lyrics: Sagiri Sól, luvis / Music: Sagiri Sól, luvis / Sound Produce: luvis / Mix, Vocal Recording & Edit: Shintaro Sato

"This collaboration came to be because I was the one who eagerly reached out to luvis. I’m a huge fan of his music, and when it was time to work on the EP, I wanted to create a refreshing and vibrant song that felt like the 'start of a journey,' so I contacted him immediately. This is a song that makes you feel the possibility that we can carve out a world as vast and free as the sky and sea with our own hands. Please listen closely to the melody and lyrics, which are sure to inspire a desire for travel and exploring the unknown."

02. jack in the box feat. Wez Atlas
Lyrics: Sagiri Sól, Wez Atlas / Music: Sagiri Sól, Wez Atlas, 熊井吾郎, Yoshito Tanaka / Sound Produce: 熊井吾郎 / Guitar: Yoshito Tanaka / Mix: Keisuke Mukai / Vocal Recording: Hajime Yamamoto (at HappyCat Recordings)

"This is my first time working with Wez, a good friend since high school, since our track 'Day Ones.' When I first heard the track Kumai Goro sent over, with Yoshito-san's light, organic guitar and the perfect balance of a fun, four-on-the-floor beat, I thought, 'I want to make this a fun song everyone can dance to!' and immediately called Wez. As we worked on it, we talked about how even as we change, there's always an unchanging 'core' to who we are. That’s why I felt there was a theme that only the two of us could deliver right now. In our daily lives, we often get caught up in what we 'have to do,' but in the end, the feeling that truly moves us is 'This is fun!' The message is that life is like a 'jack-in-the-box'—you never know what will happen—so let's enjoy that uncertainty itself.
Please listen to this on a day when you need a little boost of energy. Let's open the 'jack-in-the-box' together!"

03. eeny meeny
Lyrics: Sagiri Sól / Music: Sagiri Sól, A.G.O / Sound Produce: A.G.O / Mix: Keisuke Mukai / Vocal Recording: Ayato Taniguchi (at STUDIO SEEZE)

"With this song, I challenged myself with a new style that hasn't been in my work before. It's danceable yet somehow sad, humorous yet direct. I think we've created a song that possesses that kind of duality. The lyrics are also more straightforward and written with a bit more humor than ever before, so I hope you'll pay close attention to them. This was also a chance to reunite with A.G.O for the first time since 'save my heart.' The production process was incredibly smooth because we were able to share a vision for the song immediately. A.G.O first shaped the idea, asking, 'How about something like this?' and from there, the melody and lyrics just came naturally. It truly reaffirmed how much I love his music and his loving approach to creating it. This is a song you can dance to alone with headphones on, listen to quietly in your room, enjoy while on a walk, or share with someone else. I hope it can be a track that is there for you, no matter the situation."

04. lover boy feat. Ryohu
Lyrics: Sagiri Sól, Ryohu / Music: Sagiri Sól, Ryohu, AWSM. / Sound Produce: AWSM. / Mixed, Vocal Recording: DAIKII (AWSM.)

"I believe 'lover boy' is a song that embraces all the raw, painful 'regret' that comes at the end of a clumsy love affair. Romance is such a common thing, but for that very reason, it's something everyone stumbles through. As long as we are alive, our emotions are creatures that exist alongside us. 'I should have done this,' or 'I shouldn't have said that'—we suffer from our own 'what ifs' and sometimes blame ourselves for imagining a different future. But I believe it's because of these experiences that life, and we ourselves, shine brighter, becoming stronger and more beautiful. And perhaps, as we learn to forgive, it can be a chance to love ourselves more. I would be so happy if this song could be there for you when you feel that way."

05. on the breeze
Lyrics: Sagiri Sól / Music: Sagiri Sól, JUN, ALI& / Sound Produce, Mix: 80KIDZ / Vocal Recording: Ayato Taniguchi (at STUDIO SEEZE)

"This was my first time creating a song with 80KIDZ. I've always been a huge fan of their work, but this time they created a track with a new and different flavor—in the best way—which made for a very fresh and fun process. Along with 'Lapis lazuli,' I think this is another song on the EP that has a particularly refreshing feel. The sound makes you feel like you're being carried away on the wind, making your heart feel light. I layered lyrics on top that feel both nostalgic and yet also embrace the desire to enjoy the present moment. It's a song that captures both the feeling of 'I don't want to forget my childlike innocence even as an adult' and 'the kind of fun you only understand once you've grown up.' It's perfect for a drive or as a companion for your journey."
